Greetings CBQ Members, Thanks to all of you who responded to the survey. We will carefully consider your views and suggestions. A big thanks to Heidi from Redlands Sewing for her ruler work workshop and informative lecture on batting. I had no idea how many different types of batting there are and their differences in usage. We have a lot of wonderful workshops coming up. Bernice’s jacket workshop is filling up quickly. Be sure to sign up for the trip to Hoffman at the end of April. We are inviting other guilds to join us. Sign-ups are first come first served. Support our local quilt stores during the Quilt Run. Be sure to give the Row by Row project a try. It’s fun to see what creative ideas our members have as they add to your quilt top. You are able to share your creativity as you work on the rows of other members. CBQ has a proud history in Redlands. We need everyone’s help to keep it continuing to serve our community and provide a welcoming group for quilters to gather and share their skills. Please consider serving the guild by taking on an elected position or as a chairperson. Many hands make it easier on everyone. Most positions take only an hour or two a month. Two people can share a position which makes less work for both of them. When you serve as a board member / chairperson you get to meet so many wonderful members of the guild. Don’t be shy! I’m looking forward to seeing all of you at the end of March! Sharon Gillette
ROW BY ROW
ROW BY ROW is about to start! Are you ready? If you have already signed up, then this information is especially for you! If you did not sign up, but still want to join, you can. Just make a ROW as per the directions provided below and bring it to the March meeting. There is always room for more to join!
Make your first ROW. It must be 48 1/2” wide (unfinished). It can be the height you choose. The directions said 9-12” tall, but that is more of a suggestion than a rule. If your ROW is 8 1/2” tall, that’s fine. If your ROW is 14 1/2” tall, that’s fine too. JUST GET THAT FIRST ROW DONE! Then pin your number to that first ROW. If you are number 7, pin a little piece of paper to the ROW with a 7 written on it.
You may also include a title for your ROW if you want. This could be something like: bright colors, or scrappy blocks, or flowers, or patriotic, or…. No title, which gives the next ROW maker freedom to make a new ROW to go with your ROW however they see fit. You can also include fabric with your ROW to be used by the next ROW makers, or include nothing. Totally up to you. Drop your ROW, with your number pinned to it, and any accompanying stuff (fabric, title, or nothing) into your bag and bring it to the March CBQ meeting. You will go home with a new bag. Your job is to make a new ROW to go with the ROW you receive. This is going to be so fun! Without a doubt, this is my favorite quilt project! Questions? Contact Vicky Guiterrez
